Poland will extradite the former director of the Russian exchange Wex to the United States.

Polish officials have agreed to extradite Dmitry Vasiliev, the former executive of the cryptocurrency exchange Wex, to the United States.

Vasiliev, a Russian citizen, was arrested in Warsaw at the end of 2024 at the request of the U.S. in a criminal case involving fraud and money laundering. Lawyer Alexander Surzhin stated that Vasiliev will be transferred to U.S. custody in the case involving Alexander Vinnik, co-founder of the exchange BTC-e. Vasiliev had previously been detained in Poland and Kazakhstan over fraud allegations. Wex, launched in 2017, collapsed in 2018 after nearly 500 million dollars disappeared from accounts. Vinnik, who ran BTC-e, was arrested and extradited to France, where he was sentenced to five years in prison.
