Palantir: Enhancing Efficiency and Safety in Nuclear Power Construction with AI

Palantir announced on Thursday that it has signed an agreement with a startup dedicated to project development, Nuclear Company. Palantir and Nuclear Company will collaborate to develop a "Nuclear Operating System (NOS)" to enhance the efficiency and safety of nuclear power construction using AI. Nuclear Company will pay Palantir $100 million over the next five years.

Palantir's defense director Mike Gallagher stated in an interview with Bloomberg that as competition with China intensifies, the United States will need more nuclear power.

In the past 30 years, the United States has built only two nuclear power plants. Former U.S. Congressman Gallagher stated that in addition to strict regulations, another hindrance is the complicated process of filling out hundreds of thousands of documents when constructing new nuclear power plants.

With the help of Palantir's software, Nuclear Company is digitizing the documentation and work required for building nuclear power plants, so that in the future, if there are delays in the supply chain, frontline teams can be informed in a timely manner. Nuclear Company aims to achieve power supply by 2030.

Trump's new policy embraces nuclear power and fights against China.

Currently, among the 61 nuclear power plants under construction globally, Russia has 26, China has 25, but the United States has none.

Gallagher stated that the United States needs to revitalize its nuclear technology research and development capabilities, or it will not be able to win this strategic competition with China. Palantir's goal is to help the United States build nuclear power plants that are cheaper and safer than those in China, as quickly as possible.

U.S. President Trump signed an executive order in May to promote the revival of the nuclear energy industry. He called for the construction of 10 large nuclear reactors by 2030 and aims to achieve a total nuclear power generation capacity of 400 GW by 2050, which is more than four times the current capacity. In addition to national security, revitalizing the nuclear industry is also seen as a key aspect of national defense.
