Bitcoin and the Million-Dollar Dream: Can BTC Repeat the Dot-Com Boom of 1999?
At the time of writing, Bitcoin (BTC) is trading near 118,000 USD, bouncing back impressively from a low of 114,500 USD on July 24. Despite the recent price volatility being quite "calm", many analysts believe that a booming narrative is quietly forming – the story of a meticulously planned supply shock that could push BTC straight to the 1 million USD mark.
Million Dollar Dream: Is the Plan Already Set?
According to a report released on July 25, Swan – a financial services company specializing in Bitcoin – believes that the current price increase is completely different from previous cycles: it is not driven by explosive enthusiasm, but is systematically designed, with the intentional participation of large institutions.
"This is the least vibrant bull market we have ever seen. And that very fact makes it stronger," Swan emphasized.
The focus of this trend lies in the silent absorption by corporate treasuries and spot Bitcoin ETFs. It is no longer a playground for speculators or "meme coin players"; those behind these transactions are CFOs ( and CTOs ) – individuals who are gradually diversifying their balance sheets, viewing Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset.
Swan calls this "intentional absorption" – a process in which Bitcoin is bought in small drip-by-drip increments, through algorithms, keeping the price remarkably stable.
"The dam is about to break": A dot-com style boom?
The famous investor American HODL believes that the current picture bears many similarities to the dot-com bubble of the late 1990s. In a recent podcast, he stated:
"I believe we are at the starting point of a corporate treasury bubble that could reach a scale similar to the dot-com era. As more and more businesses recognize Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset on their balance sheets, a global rush will erupt to ensure no one gets left behind. And that could very well be the catalyst for a price increase lasting 3-4 years, pushing Bitcoin well beyond the $1 million mark."
Roadmap to 1 million USD
To reinforce the assertion, Swan's research team proposed a "design" consisting of 4 stages:
"That is the context for a frenzy that could push Bitcoin to the 1 million USD mark," Swan commented.
Next Catalyst: Cheap Money Flow Returns
It is noteworthy that BTC has increased from 42,000 USD to 123,000 USD during the historical monetary tightening period. Swan asks: What will happen when cheap capital flows back into the market?
Major institutional investors such as Nakamoto, Twenty One Capital, and Strive Asset Management are reportedly quietly preparing – setting up special purpose vehicles (SPVs) and M&A agreements – to be ready for massive purchases as soon as the opportunity arises.
The silent but strategic growth of Bitcoin is creating a very different picture compared to previous cycles. If the scenario outlined by Swan and American HODL becomes reality, Bitcoin could very well replicate the dot-com boom and reach the milestone of 1 million USD, not only thanks to the hype but also due to a systematic flow of institutional capital.
