XRP Ledger launches EVM sidechains, connecting Ethereum and XRP

Gate News bot news, according to the announcement on June 30, the XRP Ledger (XRPL) has launched its Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) sidechains on the Mainnet.

Sidechains will allow developers to create, port, and deploy Ethereum-compatible decentralized applications (dApps) within the XRPL ecosystem.

XRPL EVM sidechain design is used for speed and security, and connects to the XRP ledger through the Axelar bridge.

Axelar is a well-known protocol, renowned for its connections with over 80 blockchain networks. This integration is significant as it facilitates the flow of XRP (the native gas asset) into EVM sidechains.

In addition, the integration with the cross-chain interoperability protocol Wormhole will further expand the coverage of sidechains, connecting over 200 applications across 35 blockchain networks.
