The U.S. Department of Justice disclosed that North Korean hackers impersonated developers to steal funds from a Blockchain company.

Gate News bot reported that according to PANews, the U.S. Department of Justice disclosed that four North Korean hackers successfully infiltrated a blockchain startup in Atlanta by disguising themselves as remote developers, stealing approximately $900,000 in Crypto Assets.

In 2022, these hackers carried out two thefts, stealing $175,000 and $740,000 respectively. They used forged identity documents to bypass company background checks, and then transferred the funds through mixers and false identities.

The U.S. Department of Justice conducted a joint operation in 16 states, seizing 29 financial accounts, 21 fraudulent websites, and approximately 200 computer devices supporting North Korea's IT program.
