Anchorage has integrated with the Uniswap Wallet to enhance DeFi functionality for institutions.

According to Gate News bot and CoinTelegraph, Anchorage Digital is adding Decentralized Finance (DeFi) features to its Porto Wallet, allowing institutions to conduct swap transactions and gain liquidity through the product. This move provides institutional investors with another wallet option.

The DeFi functionality is achieved through integration with Uniswap. Nathan McCauley, CEO and co-founder of Anchorage Digital, stated that this integration will allow institutions in the DeFi space to "grow at crypto-native speeds while not compromising on security."

The company's Porto Wallet clients include Maple Finance, Sui Foundation, and the decentralized exchange dYdX. Other companies that have launched institutional wallets or platforms include Blockdaemon, Fireblocks, Consensys, and Fordefi.

Institutional DeFi refers to regulated financial institutions such as banks, asset management companies, and hedge funds participating in the decentralized finance ecosystem.

This emerging field typically combines the transparency and accessibility of DeFi protocols with the compliance, risk management, and governance standards required by institutional participants.

According to DeFiLlama data, Uniswap's Total Value Locked (TVL) is $4.57 billion, a commonly used metric in Decentralized Finance that indicates the health and liquidity of the ecosystem.

Anchorage Digital is headquartered in San Francisco, California. In December 2021, the company raised $350 million from various investors, including Andreessen Horowitz and Apollo Funds, with a valuation of $3 billion. BlackRock has partnered with Anchorage Digital to provide custody services.

According to DefiLlama data, the Decentralized Finance sector has experienced fluctuations since June 2024. As of the writing of this article, the capital locked across all chains and protocols has reached $106 billion, down from $137 billion six months ago.

With the increasing clarity of global digital asset regulation, institutional investors are becoming more interested in cryptocurrencies. For institutional investors, DeFi can offer many advantages, including faster transaction speeds and settlement times.
