China and the United States will promote the timely extension of the 24% portion of the tariffs that the U.S. has suspended and the countermeasures taken by China.

On July 30, Li Chenggang, the international trade negotiator and deputy minister of China's Ministry of Commerce, stated on the 29th that in the past one and a half days, the economic and trade teams of China and the United States continued to play the role of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism based on the consensus reached during the phone call between the two heads of state on June 5, engaging in in-depth, candid, and constructive exchanges on major issues of mutual concern. According to the consensus between China and the United States, both sides will continue to promote the extension of the U.S. suspended reciprocal tariff on 24% and the Chinese countermeasures as scheduled.
