Ethereum (ETH) developers have set the target date for the eagerly awaited Pectra update as May 7.

In a meeting held by Ethereum developers last Thursday, the schedule for the Pectra hard fork, considered one of the largest software updates of the network, was clarified. After successfully completing tests on the Hoodi testnet, May 7 was decided as the date for the update to be transferred to the main network. This date signifies a slight delay compared to the previously planned end of April.

As part of the Pectra update, a total of 11 significant innovations will be introduced to the Ethereum network. These innovations include features that enhance the user experience of wallets and updates that allow accounts to be used more practically. Additionally, the maximum amount of ETH that Ethereum validators can stake is increased from 32 ETH to 2.048 ETH. Furthermore, to improve Ethereum's scalability, the maximum data capacity supported by rollup technologies is also increased, thereby enhancing the network's transaction speed and performance.

Although the date is set as May 7, developers remind that this date may change again in case of unexpected situations during the testing phases. In the discussions held in March, it was anticipated that the update would be activated approximately 30 days after the Hoodi test, but due to the timing of the tests, the schedule was shifted to early May.
