Binance founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) issued a new warning to the crypto community about the growing threat of phishing attacks, urging users to take proactive measures to protect their accounts and digital assets.

CZ Warned Users to Be Cautious Against Phishing Attacks and Requested Strong Cybersecurity Measures to Be Taken

CZ recently emphasized in a reminder that users should never share their passwords with anyone, including customer service representatives. He stated that legitimate support personnel will never request login credentials.

CZ also warned users to avoid clicking on links in unsolicited emails, a tactic frequently used by phishing scammers to convince users to disclose sensitive information.

To enhance account security, users are advised to avoid reusing the same password across multiple websites and instead use password managers to create and store strong, unique passwords for each platform.

Additionally, CZ recommended the activation of hardware-based two-factor authentication devices like Yubikey to provide an extra layer of security beyond SMS or app-based 2FA.

This warning comes in response to the ongoing increase in social engineering and phishing scams targeting cryptocurrency users, which typically involve the impersonation of fake websites, malicious emails, and support channels. Binance and other major platforms have reported an increase in such activities with the rise in market activity.
