According to Deep Tide TechFlow news on May 24, reported by Cointelegraph, 35 members of the U.S. House of Representatives are calling for the Department of Justice to investigate the dinner held by Donald Trump on May 22 for top memecoin investors, citing concerns about "foreign influence on U.S. policy decisions" and "potential corruption and violations of compensation terms."

Lawmakers have requested in a letter to the Justice Department that the head of the Public Integrity Section, Edward Sullivan, launch an investigation into the dinner to determine whether it violated federal bribery laws or the foreign emoluments clause of the U.S. Constitution. According to Bloomberg, most of those attending the dinner may be foreign nationals.

U.S. law prohibits foreign nationals from donating to political activities in the United States. Lawmakers stated that the promotion of the $TRUMP memecoin and its promise of exclusive access to the president through a dinner creates an opportunity for foreign governments to purchase influence over the president without disclosing their identity.
