Ukrainian police have arrested a 35-year-old man in the Poltava region, accusing him of hacking more than 5,000 accounts of an international hosting company and using the company's servers for crypto mining, a practice known as cryptojacking. Since 2018, he has been searching for vulnerabilities in the online security of many companies and accessing their servers.

The police reported that the appropriation of resources without payment has caused damages to the company amounting to 185 million hryvnias ( and 4.4 million USD ). During the search of the suspect's residence, the police seized computer equipment, mobile phones, and evidence showing that he was active on hacker forums. This individual faces a prison sentence of up to 15 years if convicted. The investigation is still ongoing.
