The interface of CoinMarketCap has been compromised, an investigation is underway.
On June 20, CoinMarketCap's interface was attacked, showing a pop-up window asking users for verification of their cryptocurrency wallet. Many community members noticed unusual signs and issued early warnings.
CoinMarketCap confirms the incident, advising users not to connect wallets while the investigation team is working. Cybersecurity company Coinspect stated that the API of this platform is returning modified JSON data to inject malicious JavaScript code through the "doodles" feature.
On the same day, Crypto Briefing also discovered another cryptocurrency website showing signs of a fraudulent "exclusive airdrop" pop-up, but the incident only lasted about 5 minutes.
The incident occurred after a report from Cybernews revealed 16 billion passwords leaked globally. Experts advise users to change their passwords, use a password manager, and enable two-factor verification (2FA).
