Midjourney once again amazed the AI community, the new version can zoom freely like a camera

Midjourney announced this week the largest version update V5.2 since the release of V5, introducing a number of amazing updates, which sparked another discussion in the AI painting enthusiast community.

According to the official announcement on Discord, Midjourney v5.2 brings 4 major functional upgrades, among which "Zoom Out" brings Midjourney the highly anticipated "Image Completion" (Outpainting) ability, and also One of the top rated of the upgrades.

1.Zoom Out

v5.2 enables 1.5x zoom (Zoom Out 1.5x), 2x zoom (Zoom Out 2x) and custom zoom (Custom Zoom). The zoom (Zoom Out) function will produce an effect similar to "zooming out" the camera lens, and can automatically fill in the details on the side of the image to achieve "re-composition". Similar to Adobe's Generative Fill tool, the zoom feature allows the user to expand the original image, expanding its extent to a larger area while keeping the original image's detail the same.

Make Square function: This new function can turn a non-square image into a square image by filling the surrounding content of the image.

2. New aesthetic system

mid v5.2 has improved the aesthetic system of the image, enhanced the beauty and clarity of the image, and at the same time slightly improved the coherence of the promot and the ability to understand the text, increasing the diversity. v5.2 adds stronger stylization effects (similar to v3 effects) in the --stylize setting.

For example, in the case of the same promote, 4 images generated by --stylize set to 0, 250, 500, 1000:

The --stylize command has been modified and now has a strong effect on the amount of stylization applied to the image (more like in V3). The setting range of this command covers from --stylize 0 to --stylize 1000, and the default value is --stylize 100

3. New "High iation Mode"

The new "High Variation Mode" adds even more variety to image variations. On by default, making all variant jobs more diverse.

To toggle this type/setting click on a different change mode.

The left is high change (High iation), the right is low change (Low iation)

4. New /shorten command

The /shorten command allows you to "analyze" the promoters used to see which ones might not contribute to the image generation, and which words might be critical.

The Midjourney team has also warned that these changes may change in the coming weeks. The v5.2 version is still in beta and is currently enabled by default for maximum testing. You can also easily switch back at any time by typing /settings and clicking on the V5.1 release.

Note: High iation mode is only available in V5.2 version; /Shorten command is not applicable to multiple promotion yet.
