Is That Altcoin Next After the Bitcoin ETF? Bloomberg Analyst Assertive!

With the SEC finally approving spot Bitcoin ETF applications, the cryptocurrency world has started to focus on Ethereum ETF applications.

Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas estimates that there is a 70% chance that Ethereum ETFs will be approved by May.

Eric Balchunas, a senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg, stated that the Ethereum spot ETF is strictly contingent on Bitcoin ETF approval. As Koinfinans.com reported, Eric Balchunas was cautious by giving a less likely Bitcoin ETF approval. However, the ETF analyst has a much more optimistic outlook on his ETH ETF.

Attorney Joe Carlasare predicts that ETH spot ETFs will receive approval this year, albeit with a timeline that potentially exceeds initial expectations. Carlasare suggests that the SEC could set a precedent for approving digital ETFs while maintaining its discretion.

Things are still complicated as an SEC decision is required by the end of May for a large number of Ethereum spot ETF applications, including VanEck, Ark 21Shares, and Hashdex. However, May 23, 2024 marks the deadline for VanEck's ETF decision, raising anticipation.

For other companies, the deadline is as follows:

  • VanEck: May 23
  • ARK 21Shares: May 24
  • Hashdex: May 30
  • Grayscale: June 18
  • Invesco: July 5
  • Fidelity: August 3
  • BlackRock: August 7
