Cross-border payment company Ripple has started testing its stablecoin Ripple USD (RLUSD) on two blockchain networks.

Ripple, in its announcement on social media platform X on Friday, said, 'Ripple USD (RLUSD) is currently in private beta on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum mainnet'.

Additionally, Ripple warned users against potential scammers claiming to be able to release RLUSD through various platform vehicles, stating that RLUSD has not yet received regulatory approval and therefore is not suitable for purchase or trade.

Ripple President Monica Long stated on June 25th that the stablecoin completes the XRP, a cryptocurrency supporting XRP Ledger.

According to CoinGecko data, XRP is trading at $0.5879 as of Saturday.

Competitor to USDC and USDT

Earlier this year, Ripple announced that it would launch a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar and aimed to compete with existing stablecoins such as USDT and USDC.

USDC issued by Circle with Tether-signed USDT currently dominates the stablecoin market.

According to market data, USDT and USDC have market values of $121.62 billion and $36.38 billion, respectively. USDT accounts for 70.6% of the total value of the stablecoin market, while USDC accounts for 21%.
