HBO Documentary Released: Is the Founder of Bitcoin Really This Name? - Coin Bulletin
HBO's new documentary, "Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery," suggests that the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious creator of Bitcoin, is Peter Todd.**
One of Bitcoin's early developers, Todd, quickly came out on X platform after the allegations in the documentary and denied this claim.
The documentary, which lasts about two hours and tries to "solve one of the internet's biggest mysteries", interviews different people, examines various clues, and finally focuses on Todd. In the dialogues between Todd and director Cullen Hoback at the end of the documentary, Todd claims to be Nakamoto, while refuting this claim in other statements.
After the emergence of the grand finale of the documentary, a serious debate started on social media. Many people in the crypto community criticized the results of the documentary and argued that such claims were not based on solid grounds.
The true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto has been a great curiosity since his disappearance in 2010. It is estimated that Nakamoto owns 1.1 million Bitcoins, which is approximately equivalent to 68 billion dollars at current prices.
Nakamoto denies the allegations
Hoback, the director of the documentary, stated in an interview with Fast Company last week that he foresaw that revealing Nakamoto's identity would lead to controversy. Hoback stated that there will always be a debate about who is Nakamoto in this field, and although they present a strong argument, he said that these debates are natural.
In addition to his posts on X, Peter Todd also denied the claim that he is Satoshi Nakamoto in another interview. Todd, who said, 'Of course I'm not Satoshi,' expressed that he found these claims 'ridiculous'.
