Elon Musk claimed that Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht, who has been in prison for 11 years, will be released. Donald Trump's presidency created new expectations in the cryptocurrency world.
Ross Ulbricht, the founder of Silk Road, which was closed in 2014 and used for illegal transactions, has been in the spotlight with his supporters who argue that his punishment has been unfair for a long time. Last year, Donald Trump promised at a Bitcoin conference that he would lighten Ulbricht's sentence. Now, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has raised expectations by claiming that Ulbricht will be released in a social media post.
Eyes on Trump in the crypto world
The assumption of Donald Trump to the presidency raised hopes in the cryptocurrency sector for mitigation of penalties and more transparent regulations. According to information obtained from Trump's close circle, a decision regarding Ulbricht's pardon is expected to be announced within 24-48 hours. Libertarian National Committee Chair Angela McArdle stated that they received confirmation from Trump's team in this regard.
