Abstract generation in progress

CMB International Securities (CMBI), a subsidiary of the Bank of China, has just launched a virtual asset trading platform in Hong Kong, marking a milestone as the first securities company affiliated with a Chinese bank to be licensed to trade cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ether, and Tether.

Through the mobile application, qualified investors can trade 24/7, expanding access to the cryptocurrency market within a clear legal framework. This move demonstrates the increasing integration between traditional finance and digital assets, while promoting the controlled participation of institutions in the rapidly growing crypto market in Hong Kong.

According to Joshua Chu, Co-Chairman of the Web3 Association, the licensing of CMBI reflects a delicate balance between innovation and legal constraints, especially regulations that prevent direct participation from mainland China.
