Once a person becomes enlightened, what changes occur? Their speech and actions begin to have purpose. They start to think one step further each time, thinking deeper. They no longer act solely on feelings, but begin to consider the consequences of everything, starting to think in a self-interested way, not speaking in absolutes. They are no longer fixated on discerning or refuting; no matter what you say, I will not refute you, but I also will not be influenced by your words. They appear to have a strong sense of conviction, exuding a certain aura of certainty; others will not easily provoke or bully them. They do not seek to change others. Previously, they watched for amusement, but later begin to listen and learn the nuances, starting to connect and summarize the relationships between things. Before, they could only see one point in something, but later they begin to consider the fields and related knowledge involved behind that point. They are no longer troubled by their original family. They can empathize with many people and are aware of the darker sides of human nature. They have a good ability to learn through imitation because they can see the connections behind things, so they will imitate and learn. They no longer expect or complain; for everything, their first thought is to solve it themselves. They understand that they cannot waste their time. They become their own savior, no longer relying on others for everything. When encountering things in life, they begin to refer to the cases, opinions, and principles they have seen in books. It’s not that reading is useless, but rather that they lack the ability to connect and refer.
