In order for a XRP spot ETF to be approved, a futures ETF must first be launched.
The key piece in the approval of BTC spot ETFs was that the SEC concluded that the Bitcoin futures ETF and CME would be sufficient to provide oversight against fraud and manipulation.
If XRP futures ETF is approved, it would one day be a step towards spot XRP ETFs.
