The Zcash team has announced the release of zcashd 6.0.0, which will activate Network Upgrade 6 (NU6) at block height 2726400 — expected around November 23, 2024, coinciding with the next Zcash halving. NU6 will implement a new Zcash development fund (Hybrid Deferred Dev Fund transitioning to a non-direct funding model) and set up a “lockbox” for future decentralized grants funding. All users are advised to upgrade to zcashd 6.0.0 or a later release. The end of support for version 5.10.0 is November 5.

Zcash is set to launch a new mobile wallet, Zashi, by the end of April. The wallet, which is being developed and supported by the Electric Coin Company (ECC), is currently available for pre-registration on the Play Store for Android users.
